On This Great Day, There's Jackie Robinson To Think Of.

Last Saturday, John T. Young's letter was published in the LA Times sports section. John is the President of RBI - Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, and I first want to thank him for the great job he's doing and what a great organization I think RBI is. But, John, who feels the McCourts deserve our admiration in addition to being named "Power Couple of the Year," needs to be set straight. It's great that the McCourts have used their immense wealth to help out RBI and other athletic organizations in and around LA. But like all Major League owners, the McCourts are crazy rich. It should be tacit and expected that each owner in every big league city would give to their local RBI facilities. youth organizations, childrens hospitals, etc. That the McCourts do this is great, but the fact that they publicize it isn't so great. Many wealthy people give freely to charities and organizations and don't feel the need to make sure the entire world knows about it. It's as if the McCourts have been campaiging for"'Power Couple of the Year." It's as simple as this, John: As owners of the Dodgers, the McCourts' number one job is the stewardship of this once great and proud franchise. Everything else they do is fantastic, but secondary. Until they can show a commitment to fielding a consistent winner and restoring the Dodgers' reputation as one of the great organizations in professional sports, then, in my opinion they have failed at what they supposedly came here to do and deserve only criticism.

Still no Manny and no starting pitching except Kuroda and the kids. Pitchers and catchers report in less than a month.
